There is a circle of screws in the center of the tire of the 4WD rough terrain forklift. After all the screws are removed, the reducer can be seen. The forklift adopts the wheel side reduction bridge technology.

We usually use small, medium and large wheel reduction bridges in rough terrain forklifts. Generally, small wheel reduction bridges are used for rough terrain forklifts with a load of three tons, medium wheel reduction bridges are used for off-road forklifts with a rated load of four tons, and large wheel reduction bridges or Isuzu drive bridges can be selected for forklifts with a load of more than five tons.

Working principle of wheel side deceleration

Generally speaking, the use of wheel reducer is to further increase the driving force of off-road forklift to meet the matching of the driving force of the whole transmission system. This is a gear transmission device for reducing speed and increasing torque.

The power is transmitted from the engine to the main reducer of the front and rear axles through the clutch, transmission and transfer case, and then from the output end of the main reducer to the wheel reducer and wheels to drive the 4WD off-road forklift. In this process, the working principle of the wheel reducer is to transfer the speed and torque transmitted by the main reducer through its speed reduction and torque increase, and then to the wheels, so as to make the wheels produce greater driving force under the reaction of ground adhesion.

In order to change the torque of the transmission shaft rotating at high speed into a large driving force, there are reduction gears in the drive axle. The conventional drive axle has a set of vertebral basin gear sets (commonly known as basin angle teeth) in the middle gear package (commonly known as tooth package) for deceleration. Due to the large basin teeth, the gear case shell in the middle of the axle must also be enlarged (the greater the load, the greater the vehicle). Therefore, there is a way to design the reducer in the hub. Its structure is that the end of the half shaft is a small-diameter external gear, surrounded by a group of planetary gears (generally 5), and there are teeth in the hub to surround this group of planetary gears, so as to achieve the purpose of deceleration drive. This kind of bridge is called wheel side deceleration axle, which is referred to as wheel reduction bridge for short. Its advantages are better deceleration performance (increased driving force), greatly improved vehicle passing performance, and the disadvantage is increased cost.

Advantages and disadvantages of wheel side reduction axle

  1. Strong Trafficability

Compared with the single reducer bridge, the wheel reducer bridge is smaller than the main reducer of the single reducer bridge, and the ground clearance of the wheel reducer bridge is larger, so its trafficability is stronger. Suitable for complex pavement.

  1. Strong driving force

The biggest function of wheel reducer is to reduce speed and increase torque, so it has large torque and strong driving force. Suitable for climbing.

  1. Complex structure and low transmission rate

Firstly, the structure of wheel reducer is complex and there are many conductive parts, which reduces the transmission rate and increases the energy loss. The complex structure makes maintenance more troublesome.

  1. High assembly technical requirements

The wheel reducer has strict requirements in the process of assembly. If there is a large deviation in the matching size of parts in various departments, it is easy to reduce the reliability of the wheel reducer and the heat dissipation effect of the wheel reducer is not very good.
