If you cannot block it, the air pump is not the issue; it may be a problem with the unloading valve, causing the loss of air pressure and brake failure. If the air pump or unloading valve is faulty, they need to be replaced.
- Check the Air Brake Valve Filter: If the air pump and unloading valve are fine, check the brake pedal and the air brake valve filter for blockages. A clogged filter can cause the brakes to be unresponsive. Cleaning or replacing the filter or the air brake valve may resolve the issue.
- Check Brake Fluid Flow: If the air brake valve is not the problem, check the air booster pump. Disconnect one of the brake oil lines and press the brake pedal. Check the brake fluid flow. If the flow is too small, replace the air booster pump.
- Check Brake Calipers and Brake Lines: If the air booster pump is fine, check the brake calipers for any seizing or trapped air in the brake lines. To resolve this, open the brake caliper's bleeder valve and release the air, which should fix the problem.
